Event Information
Description
Nomadic Tempest
A Climatopian Spectacle
by Caravan Stage Company
Presented by the City of Vancouver
The Caravan returns to BC after a 30 year world tour aboard the Company's 90 foot Tall Ship, Amara Zee, a replica of a Thames River Sailing Barge bringing their original operatic spectacle, Nomadic Tempest to Vancouver.
Gather at the shore of South East False Creek just east of the Cambie St. Bridge for a free, all ages (10 years of age +) show performed on a 90-foot long Tall Ship. Nomadic Tempest is a mythical saga of monarch migrants—embodied by aerial artists—searching for refuge on a drowned planet.
Before attending the show please consider the following:
-
The show is not recommended for audiences younger than 10 years of age due to language
-
Nomadic Tempest is an experimental rock opera and, while it includes aerial performers, the performance is not a circus acrobat show.
-
Bleacher seating is limited so we encourage patrons to bring their own chairs or blankets.
-
Ticket holders MUST arrive minimum 30 minutes prior to each show or their tickets will be released to standbys.
-
Limited amount of extra tickets will be available at the door before each show. First-come, first-served.
-
Be advised that if there is inclement weather (i.e. rain & wind) on a performance night, for the safety of the performers and riggers, Nomadic Tempest cannot be performed. You will receive an emailed notice of cancellation no later than 7 pm on the performance night with instructions about how to exchange your tickets on Eventbrite for another performance. This process applies only if show is cancelled due to weather.
-
Prior to the show come early and enjoy the beer, wine, and cider from Postmark Brewing for ages 19+. A concession is available with a selection of snacks and refreshments. Cash and credit accepted.
-
If you know in advance that you can no longer attend please cancel your registration through Eventbrite. Or email canada150plus@vancouver.ca
Performance is sung in English, Henqeminem, Arabic, Mandarin and Spanish.

Nomadic Tempest is an incredible assembly of talent, technique, multi-media, and variety. It is beauty, fantasy, technology, complexity, eye-, ear- and mind-filling. And, in the beauty and the power of the performance is a powerful, graphic, sobering portent for our environment. ~Dick Pierce, Professor, Eckerd College
Nomadic Tempest is all so wonderful to watch! You bring a unique and exceptional theatrical experience to our area, which we treasure. ~ Robin Gordon, Former Professor of Theatre, University of South Florida
