Nonviolent Communication for Full Living
Overview
Nonviolent Communication for Full Living is not just an introduction to NVC, but a place to learn how to apply practices of NVC to repair and deepen relationship with yourself and others.
We start with the fundamentals of NVC such as the value of feelings in letting us know what is meaningful for us; how to identify what needs, both individual and collective, how to in any situation connect to what is important to us, including how we want to anchor in our values; how we bring that all together when in conversation.
Through these sessions you can learn how to ask for what you need, handle any response; respond when you are being othered (such as due to racism, homophobia, misogyny) and how to clarify what brings you joy and create more of it.
If you have a challenging conversation ahead with a family member, a co-worker, or a friend, you will leave the sessions with the tools you need to get through that conversation. While the outcomes of any conversation cannot be guaranteed, what can be is knowing that you showed up fully and demonstrated your commitment and care. All of those things are in our control.
NVC isn't just for conflict. One if its best gifts is that it can support us to build from a place of what we want and need. We can celebrate dreams, wants, and desires and find ways of creating more of what we want.
The Approach
My approach to NVC comes from my own experience of its tools and practices. Specifically, I have applied the tools of NVC to free myself of any ideas that I need to organise my life around the whims of other people. Instead, I’ve learned to organise my life around clarifying what is meaningful to me, what allows my nervous system to settle and what it takes to thrive, even through life’s challenges, which are always there.
This is a highly experiential workshop in which we talk about methods and then apply them using your real-life scenarios. You will have resources that will help you to deepen your practice beyond the sessions.
Our learning space is one in which everyone is welcome and there is a high commitment to care alongside the learning. While I cannot guarantee a safe space , I can promise that if there there is any impact or incident, it will be attended to with the utmost care.
You are welcome here.
