The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is pleased to invite you to explore Northern Ontario's Innovation Ecosystem.

On September 18, we will bring together private and public sector stakeholders to discuss what innovation means for different industries in Northern Ontario and opportunities to strengthen the region’s long-term capacity for innovation.

Innovation is fundamental to economic competitiveness in the 21st century. In Northern Ontario, traditional industries such as mining and forestry are adopting new technologies to increase their productivity, attract high-skilled workers, and improve the quality of their outputs. The region’s capacity for innovation stems from a supportive ecosystem of businesses, investors, regional innovation centres, entrepreneurs, post-secondary institutions, non-profits, and governments.

We have put together an exciting panel featuring:
  • Jamie Lim, CEO, Ontario Forest Industries Association
  • Erin Bobicki, Assistant Professor, Materials Science & Engineering, University of Toronto
  • Greg Baiden, CEO, Penguin Automated Systems Inc.
  • Anne Koven, Director, Mass Timber Institute
  • Moderated by: Claude Sharma, Public Relations and Communications Specialist, Hard-Line Solutions
Our panel will discuss pressing questions such as, 'What does innovation look like for ‘traditional’ industries in Northeastern Ontario, such as mining and forestry?' and 'What are the barriers and facilitators to innovation in the North?'

Join us for an exciting opportunity to network, discuss and debate opportunities for innovation in Northern Ontario. QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS?
If you have any questions please contact, Stephanie Lewis, Senior Event Specialist.
