Covid Protocols: While there are currently no provincial public health measures in place, the Swift Current Research and Development Centre operates under the management of AAFC, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. AAFC has a national Covid-19 protocol for all staff and guests while on AAFC property. As such, all field day attendees must abide by AAFC rules:
• If you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, please do not attend.
• Personal vehicles must be used to transport attendees to the facility and the field sites. There will be no vans, busses or other public transportation available. Parking space at the fields is limited so attendees may carpool to the fields with others to save space. Mask usage is encouraged if carpooling.
• Masks and hand sanitizer will be made available onsite for those wishing to use them.
• Physical distancing is encouraged.
It is imperative all attendees are respectful of AAFC policies and of each other.
Things to pack: to ensure you are adequately prepared for the field day, please pack the following:
• Water bottle. There will be a water refill station in the Quonset. Beverages can also be purchased from the food truck at lunch.
• Your Lunch or money for lunch at Smoke Shack: There will be two options for attendees’ lunch:
1) Attendees can enjoy some food and drinks from the Smoke Shack which will be onsite. Lunch price ranges from $6-$12.50+Tax.
2) Attendees are free to pack their own lunch
*Notes: No refrigeration will be provided so if you are bringing your own lunch, please pack it in a cooler with ice!
*Accepted payments at Food Truck: Cash, Credit, Debit
• Hat, sunscreen, bug spray and/or protective clothing
• Rain jacket, umbrella, rubber boots (if there is a chance of rain)
• Footwear suitable for walking in the fields
Networking & Information Table: There will be some time for networking and a table on which businesses or organizations are free to leave business cards, brochures, pamphlets etc. If you are bringing paper materials please bring a paper weight as there will be air flow in the building.
Contingency plan and cancellation: In the event of extreme weather, developments with the Covid-19 situation, or force majeure, the hosts reserve the right to either change or cancel the event at any time. Any changes or cancellation will be communicated as soon as possible to all registrants.
This field day is co-hosted by: the Organic Research Program at SCRDC, SaskOrganics, and the Advisory Committee on Organic Research at SCRDC.
