This U of T accredited program focuses on integrated assessment and management approaches to coexisting physical and mental health needs.

About this event

Patients and Families as Partners in Integrated Collaborated Care

November 1 - December 12, 2021

This Foundational course explores innovative, productive and practical approaches to involving patients and families in integrated collaborative care for people with mental and physical health needs. The course will create a unique opportunity to reflect on your practice and improve the engagement and activation of patients and families to be partners in their care. Strategies for collaboratively co-creating care plans and enhancing the therapeutic alliance will be examined. There will be a particular focus on the role of empathy and emotional self-regulations in creating productive partnerships.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive 7 credits (Mainpro+ or Section 1).

Who Should Register?

All healthcare teams and providers (i.e. nurses, physicians, social workers, occupational and physical therapists etc.), as well as managers and administrators in primary care, hospital, long-term care and community care settings who are working with patients and families to address complex care issues, with a particular focus on co-existing mental and physical needs may register.

About the Medical Psychiatry Collaborative Care Certificate (MP3C)

MP3C is a University of Toronto accredited Continuing Professional Development Certificate program and has been approved as a Certificate of Completion in Continuing Professional Development for 39.0 hours.

All MP3C events (courses, workshops) are individually accredited for Section 1 credits and Mainpro+ hours, and can be taken based on interest without pursuing the certificate program.
