Event description

Description

A melting pot of circumpolar and calypso music featuring:

Inger Kuitse - Inger Kuitse is a 23 year old from East Greenland. She's played music all her life, learning and playing covers on her guitar. She recently started writing her own music which can be a challenge sometimes to get her music out there. She's participated in X-Factor in South and East Greenland and won in both. She's collaborated with Nunavut artists and loves to exchange between Greenlandic and Nunavut.

Joanne Ashley & Kris Mullaly - This indie-folk duo are performing singer/songwriters, as well as, performers in other Iqaluit based groups. The music they create reflects a transformative connection with the Arctic, uncovers their southern roots and evokes eclectic influences. Raw guitar tones mized with dynamic vocals offers a journey of restoration and reconciliation.

Elisapie - Elisapie Isaac needs no introduction to Iqaluit - she has throngs of diehard fans who will be thrilled to see her again. Last here in 2013, Elisapie returns with her music that explores the duality between sensitive woman and ferocious spirit that lives within her.

Kobo Town - At once brooding and joyous, intensely poetic and highly danceable, Gonsalves’ songs betray a deep interest in Caribbean folk music backed by the indomitable energy of his band. Kobo Town’s dynamic performances have earned them a considerable following beyond the niche world of calypso fans.
