Polaroid Emulsion Lift
Overview
Inside every Polaroid picture, there is a thin layer of emulsion sandwiched between protective layers of plastic. With a boatload of care, it is possible to separate the image from its frame. This free-floating image can then be transferred to another surface to create a unique and immensely delicate art piece. The image often wrinkles and tears during this process, producing an effect that can not easily be simulated by other means.
Over the course of the afternoon, artist Terence Reeves will first demonstrate this process, and then guide participants through the steps of making their own emulsion lifts from start to finish.
No prior experience or equipment is required.
3 frames provided with registration price. Additional frames may be purchased for $5/each.
