Overview

This session is open to MHA staff only. *THIS SESSION HAS PRE REQUISITE READINGS TO COMPLETE PRIOR TO ATTENDING*

This course will offer a brief introduction to trauma informed care and offer an overview of approaches at all levels of service provision. Trauma-informed principles will be explored as well as skills and strategies appropriate for inpatient and outpatient/community settings. Information on types of traumas, trauma symptoms, and rates of trauma in specific populations will be covered, with an opportunity for discussion.

Prerequisite online learning: Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) e-Learning SeriesThere are seven 20-30-minute modules through Alberta Health Services. Please begin by completing the Pre-Competency Survey in the Non-AHS staff section of the website. Once the survey is completed, select and complete Modules 1 to 7. After all modules are completed, finish the course with the Post-Competency Survey. To complete prerequisite: Follow this link: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/info/page15526.aspx
