Pride Pump: Strength and Conditioning for the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community
Overview
Ready to build a stronger you in a safe, fun, and inclusive space? Pride Pump is a strength and conditioning program designed specifically for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Whether you're an athlete or just want to feel more confident in your daily life, this class will help you build muscle, increase power, and reduce your risk of injury.
What to Expect
In this program, we focus on training the big muscle groups you need for explosive movements, while also strengthening the smaller, stabilizing muscles crucial for long-term joint health. You'll learn proper form for exercises like squats, deadlifts, and push-ups using affordable tools like bands, light weights, and your own bodyweight.
This program includes:
- A mix of multi-joint movements to maximize muscle growth.
- Dedicated core and breath training to build a strong foundation.
- A fun and inclusive environment with a class size of maximum 20 people.
The class will include a variety of standing and floor-based exercises. Please be comfortable with transitioning between standing, seated, and prone positions, and remember to bring your own yoga mat (a limited number will be available on a first-come, first-served basis).
Meet Your Trainers
This program is led by a team of experienced and passionate trainers from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
- Troy Dettwiler (he/him): An ACSM Certified Personal Trainer with years of experience, Troy is passionate about creating a safe and empowering environment where everyone can feel strong through movement.
- Addison (they/them): A transmasc human with diplomas in Massage Therapy and Recreation Therapy, Addison is passionate about accessible movement and building community.
Event Details
- When: Saturdays from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
- Where: Stanley Park Community Centre, 505 Franklin St N, Kitchener, ON N2A 4K7
- Tickets: $15 + taxes. Your contribution helps support vital community sports programming.
Important Reminders
- Requirements: You must be 18+ and a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. You will also need to either pass a PAR-Q+ or provide a doctor's clearance to participate.
- What to Bring: Water bottle, yoga mat, towel, and any medication related to exercise (e.g., asthma puffer).
- Code of Conduct: We have a zero-tolerance policy for racism, fatphobia, body shaming, and other forms of discrimination.
