About This Event
This session provides an overview of Alberta Protection for Persons in Care Act, which helps protect adults in care from abuse.

Participants will learn:

  • Who is protected under the PPC Act
  • What types of care settings are covered
  • How the Act defines abuse, including physical, emotional, sexual, financial abuse and neglect
  • Legal duties of service providers to prevent and report abuse
  • How and when to report concerns

Abuse, as defined in the Act, includes actions or failures to act that cause serious physical, emotional, or financial harm, or that take away a person dignity or basic needs.

Who Should Attend
This session is for caregivers, staff, service providers, and community members who support adults in care and want to better understand their responsibilities to recognize and report abuse.
