Arduino is an open-source, beginner-friendly platform for anything from home-automation, building robots, cosplay, & even interactive art!

About this event

This class takes a hands-on approach to learning the fundamentals of electronics, programming, sensors, actuators, and how to fuse them together with Arduino into your own projects. No previous experience with Arduino, electronics, or programming is necessary.

With the skills taught in this class, you can go on to create an automatic bird feeder, vibrant LED artwork, a home automation system, or even a remote-controlled robot!

You’ll learn to use various input sensors including push buttons, potentiometers, joysticks, light sensors, noise sensors, and ultrasonic distance sensors, among others. Control output displays like LEDs, LCD screens, buzzers, and integrate actuators including servos, DC motors, and stepper motors.

The first two weeks are focused on learning through hands-on experience using a variety of sensors, displays, and actuators, writing simple programs for the Arduino, developing troubleshooting and problem solving skills, and using a variety of different tools. In the third session, you will have the opportunity to apply this new knowledge through the guided development of a project from the ground up. Choose one of our projects or bring your own idea (if you have your own project idea please get in touch via email before the class to confirm its feasibility and the availability of materials).
