Pyrography - Paddle & Ornament burning with Vicky (postponed)
Overview
EDITED TO ADD: Due to unforeseen weather hazards we have had to reschedule the original event date from Nov. 28 until Dec. 19!
Dec. 19 was earmarked for a Christmas Ornament wood burning workshop so thanks to the weather, whoever signs up for the new date will get to burn both!
Join Indigenous artist Victoria Grant Rozentals, spirit name Star Feather Woman, for a unique and inspiring paddle wood burning workshop that blends creativity, storytelling, and tradition. Victoria—also known as Vicky the Real Artist—is celebrated for her intricate pyrography designs that honour connection, nature, and Indigenous teachings. Her work has been featured in juried exhibitions and permanent public collections across Ontario, and she brings that same spirit of artistry and community to her workshops.
In this hands-on session, participants will learn the fundamentals of pyrography (woodburning) as they practice on a small piece of wood before moving on to create a finished design on a 14" decorative canoe paddle to take home. Victoria will guide you step by step through safe tool use, shading techniques, and creative design planning, ensuring each paddle reflects your personal story and connection to the land and water.
No experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity! All tools and materials are provided. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot early and experience the joy of creating your own one-of-a-kind burnt wood artwork with guidance from a master of the craft.
