About "Mama's Voice":
In the early days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Ganna and her family escaped and found refuge in Poland. There, they meet Kaja and her family. The deep bond the two mothers develop helps Ganna to confront trauma, loss, and the horrors of war.
Mama’s Voice offers an intimate portrait of a Ukrainian family torn apart by war. Told through the lens of a refugee mother, it captures the everyday reality of women and children seeking safety in Poland during the early months of the Russo-Ukrainian war. It is a heartfelt story of resilience, displacement, and the transformative power of art in times of crisis. It’s also a testimony to the enduring ties to the motherland - those who fled, those who stayed, and what binds us together.
The documentary had its world premiere at the LA Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles on October 18, 2025, where it received an Honourable Mention Award for its powerful depiction of the human cost of the war on Ukrainian families.
