Course Overview:

Principles of Moving Air (POMA) was developed by the Thermal Environmental Comfort Association (TECA) to provide an in-depth explanation of how air moves through a duct system. Today, newer more efficient furnaces and especially heat pumps require larger volumes of air to be moved than older higher temperature rise heating equipment. This course will benefit anyone working in the New, Retrofit or Repair portions of the industry and will give those who are designing or installing duct systems the ability to create quiet, efficient systems which deliver the required volumes while using the least fan energy.

Successful participants of this 18-hour course will receive a TECA Certificate and will be one step closer to qualifying for TECA Forced Air Designer Certificate and/or the Home Performance Contractor Network for Heat Pump Installers. The BC Housing, Licensing and Consumer Services also recognizes this course for 32 Continuing Professional Development points.

There is some basic math required to complete this course. While not math intensive, POMA does assume an ability to do multiplication, division, squares and square roots. Click here to review a math tutorial. If you can handle this or learn it before this course, you will have no problem math-wise.

Course Instructor: David Hill

David is President of Eneready Products Ltd., a ventilation equipment manufacturer. He has worked in the residential ventilation industry for 41 years, co-founded TECA 25 years ago and currently chairs its Ventilation and POMA tech committees. Over the last 25 years he has spoken at 40 conferences throughout the US and Canada on the topics of ventilation, air moving and chimney safety.
