About this Event
On International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women , join us for Recognizing Invisible Violence: The Criminalization of Women, a panel discussion to discuss the criminalization of women in the Canadian legal Justice system.
The panel will explore the alarming trend of criminalization of women, in particular survivors of gender-based violence within the legal justice system. We will explore its causes and the particularly harmful consequences for racialized women as seen within the Clinic’s own Criminalization of Women Project.
This free event features Deepa Mattoo, Executive Director of the Barbra Schlifer Clinic, Emilie Coyle, Executive Director of the Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies, and Emma Halpern, Executive Director of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia. The Criminalization of Women project is graciously funded by The Law Foundation of Ontario.
