Redefining Core with Kate Gillespie
Overview
When most people hear the word core, they think about sit ups and the six-pack, but your core is so much more than just a muscle - it is a system of stability, which comes from several muscles working together to create a pressure strategy.
The Stack refers to organizing the ribcage over the pelvis, which will stack the diaphragm and the pelvic floor, which are the lid and the base of your core. Due to modern living, many of us live in a suboptimal pattern.
In this workshop, you’ll learn which muscles need to be activated and which ones need to be inhibited, so that we can move towards restoring the stability of the stacked skeleton.
In two hours, you will:
- Understand the theory of breath mechanics through a Postural Restoration lens
- Learn how to breathe 360 degrees
- Experience what intra-abdominal pressure truly feels like
- Challenge your core in novel ways
This work on the mat will transform how you move through the world, from the day-to-day to your athletic endeavours.
