About this event

This webinar will highlight practical options for consumers to reduce single-use items when ordering takeout. Hear from the City of Toronto and two special guest speakers from Roncy Reduces, Tina Soldovieri and Sonya Gammal about best practices, tips, and “how-to” steps to use reusable containers and cups for takeout at participating food establishments and retail stores in Toronto.

About Roncy Reduces

Roncy Reduces is a neighbourhood initiative that started in January 2019. Our mission is to reduce plastic and packaging waste in our neighbourhood by inspiring both neighbours and neighbourhood businesses to take on waste reduction together. We ask businesses to participate by displaying our Roncy Reduces BYO sticker at the door and accepting customers’ reusable containers whenever possible. In return, we promote them on our social media platforms, at events and on neighbourhood flyers. And we encourage our neighbours to BYO (bring their own) reusable containers such as coffee cups, water bottles, string bags for produce, cloth bags for bread and bulk food, reusable containers for takeout food and deli items such as meat, fish and cheese and of course a reusable shopping bag.

Since 2019 many other neighbourhoods have started their own groups in Toronto and beyond and we have created a website together called www.canadareduces.ca that works as a resource for new and existing groups, businesses and anyone interested in plastic waste reduction.
