Repair and Mending Workshop
Overview
Join us for a creative craft afternoon for youth aged 16–30 to explore sustainable clothing practices!
Learn how caring for your clothes can reduce textile waste and benefit both people and the environment. There will be a short educational segment on the social and environmental impacts of fashion and the local textile waste issues on Vancouver Island.
Hands-on workshop teaching practical repair skills, including:
- Patch making with natural motifs
- Button sewing
- Decorative and repair embroidery
Discover that repairing clothing can be fun, creative, and empowering at a welcoming, inclusive, and wheelchair-accessible space at Little Gladstone Studio in Fernwood.
All materials are sourced second-hand from SUPPLY Creative Reuse Store to keep the workshop low-cost and low-impact.
Threading Change, a youth-led NGO, will provide educational support. Expect a cozy, friendly atmosphere where you can express yourself, get creative, and meet like-minded people—hopefully leaving with a smile and maybe a new friend or two.
