Based on their experience with activist research, the facilitator will discuss how to find the information you need from a variety of internet sources, archives and databases. This workshop will also cover the steps in filing a freedom of information request and how to use your research findings to further your campaigns. Students, activists, those new to research and those with more experience are invited to share their experiences and to learn how to collectively sharpen our research skills.

Trainer: mac scott is an anarchist working in the law, go figure. He is a member of No One Is Illegal and the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty. In his free time he likes bad suits, beer, his collective house, his family and science fiction, not necessarily in that order
Accessibiity: The building and room is wheelchair accessible. Single stall, barrier free, gender neutral washroom located on the fifth floor. The closest accessible subway is St. George Station. Subway tokens are available upon request.

Tools for Change is a project of OPIRG Toronto, Earthroots, Greenpeace Canada, OPIRG York, the Community Action Centre of the Student Association at George Brown College and No One Is Illegal (NOII). We help you develop skills to champion social, economic, and environmental justice. We host over 20 workshops a year. Workshop are offered on a sliding scale of $20, $30 and $50 and scholarships are available.
