Self-Employment for Newcomers - Info Session for 2025

Join this workshop to learn about the Self-Employment for Newcomers Program at YMCA!

The YMCA Self-Employment for Newcomers (SEN) Program, free for eligible participants, is designed to help you learn Canadian Business Skills, Digital Strategies for Business and improve your Business Communication Skills. Through practical interactive workshops, expert guest speakers and one-on-one private consultations with business advisors, you will gain confidence and knowledge to become an entrepreneur in Canada!

In this information session you will learn about:

Eligibility criteria: All Newcomers, except those on visitor visas

Registration process: Application and Interview

Program structure : 10-week program (in-person at the Robert Lee YMCA in downtown Vancouver)

Program curriculum : Specifically designed to develop your business plan step by step - from an idea to launching your business in Canada

Other Details:

Language: This Info Session and SEN Program will be conducted in English. Proficiency in English of LINC 5 or higher is required to attend the program

Dates: We start a new program cohort in January, May and September and the exact dates will be shared at the information session.

Q & A Session: If you have questions about the SEN program, we are happy to answer them during this session.

Delivery: This Information session is delivered online via Zoom. Please register on this Eventbrite page to access and ensure you log in to Zoom using the name you used in the registration. Make sure you are in a quiet place to be on camera and speak when you join this session.
