SES Workshop—Considering Engineering Ethics
Overview
Engineering Ethics is always a timely topic. Much of our modern world is shaped by engineering, and without engineering, the issues facing our world cannot be corrected. However, with power comes responsibility.
Join the SES for a workshop on engineering ethics. We will have a series of lectures followed by a Q & A session.
This event is designed to offer the annual Ethics Component for APEGS CPD. A Certificate of Attendance will be sent to those who attend.
This event will be available either in-person or virtual. Premium Tickets are reserved for Premium Members of the SES.
Conflicts of Interest/Ethical Dilemmas
Membership in a self-regulated profession is considered a privilege and with privilege comes great responsibility. The iron ring is a reminder to engineers of the weight of that responsibility. While almost every professional intends to conduct themselves in an honourable and ethical manner, we are human beings and will encounter ethical dilemmas along the way. In this short presentation we will explore how ethical dilemmas, including conflicts of interest may arise for engineers, the importance of being aware of their existence and/or potential and actions to be taken upon discovery.
Ronni Nordal practices law from her home in Saskatoon, SK acting as a neutral mediator, arbitrator and investigator and practicing in the area of professional regulation, advising professionals, investigation committees and discipline committees as well as acting as a practice advisor and designate professional responsibility counsel to the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
