Shakespeare in Music
By Parkdale Orchestra
Overview
Join the Parkdale Orchestra as we share music by Mendelsohn, Dvořák and Prokofiev that was inspired by the words of William Shakespeare.
Shakespeare is quoted as saying
"If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die."
Composers have long been inspired by his work, and the Parkdale Orchestra will bring you three brilliant examples: The Othello Overture by Antonin Dvořák, Romeo and Juliette by Sergei Prokofiev and excepts from Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn.
