Event description
Métis storyteller Bruce Sinclair recounts growing up in small-town Northern Saskatchewan.

About this Event

Storyteller Bruce Sinclair recounts growing up in Northern Saskatchewan in a small town with a high percentage of Métis and First Nations community members. His stories explore the notions of identity, poverty, family relationships, discrimination, racism - and the spirit of the people.

Bruce Sinclair is a Métis theatre artist, teacher and student of the nehiyawewin (Cree) and Michif languages, and is currently based on a ranch near Meadow Lake in NW Saskatchewan. Bruce formed an artistic entity, miyoteh performance, that will develop and produce works based on working with elders and the nehiyawewin language, as well as artistic collaborations with diverse communities. Recently, Bruce worked at SUNTEP Saskatoon in a student support role and is focusing on finding ways to share Métis stories, both contemporary and traditional, with the local, national and international communities.
