Spinning Flax to Linen
Overview
Description: Students will process a small amount of flax plants to produce their own flax fibre. From this fibre and other supplied flax fibre (tow, roving and line flax) students will practice spinning linen yarn. Various methods of managing the three forms of flax fibres will be illustrated and practiced. Yarn finishing will be discussed.

Time: 10am - 2:30pm
Participant Requirements: Students should have the basics of spinning mastered as the particulars of spinning flax will be discussed but not spinning itself. This is not a beginning spinning class.
Equipment to bring:
- Spinning Wheel in good, working order with repair kit
- Distaff if possible, but not necessary
- Tea towel
- Bobbins and other usual items in your spinning basket
Material Cost: Included in class fee
LDWS workshops are open to all. If a participant is less than 18 years old, they are required to have a parent or guardian present at all times.
This class has a minimum number of 8 participants to proceed. If this number is not reached we’ll let you know about a week ahead. You will be refunded your full registration.
The workshop is limited to 20 participants, please register early.
***Cancellation Policy: Participants who cancel their registration up to 1 month prior to the start of the workshop will receive a full refund. A participant who finds a replacement for his/her spot within 1 month prior to the start of the workshop will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 1 month of workshops (with no replacement found) and “no-shows” will not be refunded. If the Guild cancels a workshop for any reason, all registration fees will be refunded.
