Overview

Join us for an insightful event discussing ways to enhance social experiences for autistic students in our community.

Most traditional approaches aim to remediate social skills in autistic students, often placing the responsibility for change on the individual.

This presentation takes a different perspective—focusing on creating inclusive environments and teaching neurotypical peers how to communicate and engage more effectively.

We’ll review evidence-based peer-mediated interventions and explore what autistic self-advocates say they want from social interactions, drawing on current research and lived experiences.

The goal is to provide practical, affirming strategies that foster understanding, respect, and meaningful connections in school communities.
