So, you’ve completed active treatment. Now what?

You might be feeling so much and thinking, “What just happened to me?” or, “How am I supposed to live a ‘normal’ life with what I just experienced?”

This phase of the breast cancer experience is often referred to as “survivorship” or “life after cancer”.

It can be really hard to navigate, so we have created a Survivorship Series to help! If your answer is “yes” to any or all of the questions below, this group might be for you!

Do you have some fear of cancer recurrence?

Do you feel like you are only now processing the impacts of the diagnosis?

Are you trying to navigate your career and social situations post active treatment?

Are you living with body changes that are impacting your self-esteem, sexuality and relationships?

Are you feeling alone or isolated in your experience?

Most importantly, do you want to learn some tools and skills to help you live with these challenges and move forward with your life according to what you value?

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 12-person closed group for 7 sessions. By signing up and securing a spot, you are committing to all 7 sessions. You must be present for all 7 sessions to partake in this group. If you can't make all 7 sessions, we ask that you please let us know so we can pass the spot to someone else in the community.

Get ready to connect to others in similar situations, express your fears and worries, learn new skills and start to live ALL areas of your life without cancer taking the lead role.

There are limited spots available for this group and we ask for a 7-week commitment because the goal is to develop relationships and learn the tools/skills to be able to live through survivorship in a healthier way.

Participant Eligibility Criteria:

You were diagnosed with stage 0-3 breast cancer

Recently (ideally within 1 year, with max of 3 years out) completed active treatment (*you may still be on maintenance treatments)

A 7-week commitment is required to create group cohesion and benefit from all of the learnings.

Session dates are every Wednesday March 26th through May 7th:

March 26 - Group introductions and outline, cancer-related PTS/PTSD, window of tolerance, self-compassion, relaxation technique

April 2 - Learning new skills to deal with fear of cancer recurrence

April 9 - Managing emotions and uncertainty in survivorship

April 16 - Discussing body changes and diving into topics like body image, sexuality, intimacy, treatment side effects and learning to accept your new body

April 23 - After treatment (Re-integrating back into work and social situations)

April 30 - Moving beyond (Existential – who am I now? Examining values and finding balance again in survivorship)

May 7 - Review and conclude (summarizing content, learnings, saying goodbye)

What to bring to group each week:

Be prepared to complete exercises at home from group learnings

Come prepared with a journal / note pad, pen

This session is moderated by a professionally trained and registered social worker or psychotherapist and provides that safe space to unpack what you’re feeling; to learn, share and connect with others.

Rethink’s psychosocial support program offers these virtual support group sessions to the community for free.

WHO THIS IS FOR: Anyone with breast cancer, stage 0-3 who is seeking this support and a deeper level of connection with community

**Please note that we have limited the number of registrations to keep this a safe, intimate space that fosters the deeper connection the community has asked for. If for some reason you are unable to attend after all, please cancel your registration as soon as possible, before July 3rd, via Eventbrite so that another community member can have your spot.
