About Community Arts at Toronto Arts Council:
TAC Community Arts Projects* program supports art activity that demonstrates vision and excellence. To be eligible for this program applicants must be incorporated non-profit organizations or unincorporated collectives operating on a not-for-profit basis. This program emphasizes projects that:
- highlight co-creative or collaborative art processes between professional artists and communities
- offer skill building experiences that can lead to performance, presentation or exhibition opportunities for participants
- increase access to arts activity for the broader community
Community Arts Projects can involve one or more art practices, such as music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and storytelling, but the collaborative involvement of professional artists with community members is a necessary component.
Maximum grant available is $15,000. Successful applicants may receive less than the full amount requested.
Venue Accessibility: North York Civic Centre is a physically accessible (barrier-free) building with automatic doors at building entrances, and an elevator. There are gender-specific bathrooms with accessible stalls and automatic doors close to the committee room. Please contact the program manager if there is any way we can accommodate you (i.e.: ASL interpretation). TAC events aim to be scent-free - please do not wear or use any fragrance before attending. Snacks will be provided (if possible please bring your own water bottle, we are aiming for zero waste events). Kids are welcome. If TTC tokens are needed, please contact the program manager in advance to requests tokens/tickets.
