A 3-day intensive class covering TEA 101 & 102.

  • Friday, January 16 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
  • Saturday, January 17 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
  • Sunday, January 18 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)

*students will have 1 hour for lunch


TEA 101 SCHEDULE:

  • Friday, January 16 Friday (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
  • Saturday, January 17 (9:00 am - 11:00 am)


TEA 102 SCHEDULE:

  • Saturday, January 17 (11:00am - 5:00 pm)
  • Sunday, January 18 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
  • If you are only planning on taking 102, you must have already taken TEA 101

T EA 101: Introduction to Tea

This course will provide an introduction on the history of the origin of tea. You will learn how to differentiate the types of tea as well as the tea grading standards used in the industry.


T EA 102: Regions of the World

Students will examine in detail the principal tea-growing regions of the world. Develop a fundamental understanding of tea – its evolution and its influence on culture and world events.

  • Digital course material
  • Meals: lunch, morning & afternoon break

COURSE DETAILS:

  • This is an intensive program where all for TEA 101 & 102 will be covered over 3 days, including tastings, presentations, blind tasting and multiple choice exam.
  • Students will be sent digital copies of the course books one week before class starts.
  • If a student fails a portion of the testing, they will not be required to retake the entire course. Rather they will have the opportunity to re-take that portion at a future in-person session.

  • As this course requires a minimum number of students to proceed, we strongly advise students to refrain from booking travel or accommodations until the course has been formally confirmed. Should you choose to make such arrangements prior to confirmation, we recommend selecting fully refundable options. Please note that the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada bears no responsibility for, and will not reimburse, any travel, accommodation, or related expenses incurred.


CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • Students can cancel their registration up to 3-weeks before the start date for a refund minus a $50 CAD service fee. To cancel registration email adi.baker@tea.ca.

I NSTRUCTOR: Karen Donnelly

Karen Donnelly is a Certified THAC Tea Sommelier® and the in-person instructor for the Tea Sommelier® program in Delaware and Pennsylvania (United States). With over 30 years of experience as a writer, speaker, and educator, Karen writes the Cuisine page for The Tea House Times magazine and is a regular contributor to the Tea & Herbal Association of Canada's sip Magazine. She also serves as the President of the Mid-Atlantic Tea Business Association.
