From the announcement of the updated Ontario Math Curriculum with the new coding expectations to a renewed focus on modern learning in the classroom, STEM is taking over schools!
In this series of hands-on, interactive workshops we will be exploring coding and a variety of other STEM topics to support teachers in building the skills they need to bring amazing learning experiences to their students.

No previous experience is necessary to join any session. The workshops will be run virtually through Microsoft Teams. In order to participate, you will need access to a laptop with an internet connection.
WORKSHOP OPTIONS
Animation (Grades 4-8)
Let's explore the intersection of STEM and Art with animation! We will explore how to use WickEditor to create animated stories as we learn about the principles of animation and discover how this technology can be used across the curriculum.

Computer Music (Grades 4-8)
Let's explore the intersection of STEM and Art with computer music! We will explore how to use SoundTrap to create electronic music as we discover how students can write their own music and learn the fundamentals of music theory. No previous music experience is required!

Stop Motion Animation (Grades 3-8)
Stop motion animation is used in some of our favourite films, so let's learn how to create our own! We will learn how to use stop motion studio to create animated stories and explore how this exciting technology can be used across the curriculum.
In order to participate, you will need an iPad/tablet with the Stop Motion Animation Studio app downloaded.

App Development (Grades 7 & 8)
Everyone has a great idea for an app, so let's learn how to make one! We will learn how to code our own apps with Thunkable as we explore how app development can be used to support student learning across the curriculum. This workshop will be directly tied to the Ontario Math Curriculum coding expectations.
