About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Showing up at our best requires us to look after our own energy first. Most of us know this, yet many still struggle with taking on too much and sacrificing their own health and well-being. We feel stuck because either we know what to do but don’t do it, or we feel pulled in too many directions. This familiar cycle leads to overwhelm and physical pain. It’s difficult to improve our patterns before we understand the connection between our pain and behaviours. Then accepting how they are serving us. By listening to your body, you’ll learn to release where you’re stuck, unlocking the energy to show up better for yourself, your community and to make a greater impact with more ease.

A session for striving, caring professionals who want to know:

  • How to shift patterns that are holding you back
  • The real cause of overwhelm, anxiety and burnout
  • How stress and trauma are stored in the body
  • The key ingredients for releasing pain and stress
  • Practical tools for finding clarity, energy and focus

This event will involve a slideshow presentation plus simple reflective and meditative exercises to help you practice the tools and get immediate insights. Participants should be prepared for brief, gentle movements and to give their full attention. You won’t break a sweat. However, looking inward can require significant focus.

This workshop is perfect for striving, ambitious people who want to show up at their best, but feel stuck in old patterns of behaviour or in areas of pain/tension in the body.

About your Instructor: Gabriel Shaw

For more than 20 years, Gabriel has dedicated his life to health and wellness education. He spent his teens and early twenties studying martial arts, tai chi and qigong as well as Buddhist and Taoist meditation. Gabriel’s career in healthcare began as an Emergency Medical Technician. He later went on to achieve a bachelor of science in kinesiology and a clinical exercise physiologist designation. This has helped him combine his passions for health, movement and mindfulness.

Gabriel’s own experience with burnout provided the catalyst for transforming his life and finding more fulfillment and ease than he ever thought was possible. He combines insights from his experience in healthcare with his skills in coaching, kinesiology, and Tai Chi/Qigong to help others do the same.

Gabriel’s work focuses on supporting striving helping professionals who struggle with pain and overwhelm to find energy and balance physically, mentally, professionally and spiritually so that they can show up better for themselves and their clients. Gabriel lives in beautiful Victoria, BC (the Coast Salish territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ nations), where he enjoys all forms of movement and outdoor activities.
