Overview

“My thoughts are like butterflies. They are beautiful, but they fly away.” Edward M. Hallowell, Delivered from Distraction

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in Canada, affecting 4-6% of adults and 5-7% of children, or approximately 1.8 million Canadians. In other words, 1 of every 21 people in the country has ADHD. It's not surprising that we hear the term a lot today!

But what does it really mean, and how does it affect a child's developing brain?

Join Melanie Noble on October 15th for an in-depth exploration of ADHD tailored specifically for Montessori educators.

Together, we'll explore:

What indicators of ADHD might be observed in children aged 3-12: Learn to recognize the signs and behaviors associated with ADHD in young children and how they may present in a Montessori environment.

The experience of girls with ADHD: Understand the unique ways ADHD manifests in girls, who are often underdiagnosed and may display different symptoms than boys.

The positive attributes that go hand in hand with ADHD: Discover the strengths and talents that children with ADHD often possess, and how to nurture these in a Montessori setting.

ADHD in the home environment: Gain insights into how ADHD affects children outside of school and how educators can support families to create consistent and supportive routines.

This workshop will equip you with the knowledge and tools to better understand and support children with ADHD, ensuring they thrive within the Montessori environment. Join us for an hour of learning, sharing, and practical strategies to enhance your teaching practice and provide inclusive, individualized support for all students.

A recording of the event will be made available to those who are unable to attend and certificates of attendance will be provided.
