The Light We Share: An Evening of Art, Resistance & Community
Overview
About the hosts:
The Lantern Penticton is a grassroots movement that shines light on creativity, justice, and collective action. Featuring live music, poetry, powerful speakers, and opportunities to learn about productive forms of activism, The Lantern gatherings are more than just events — they are a stand against hate and a reminder of the resilience within our communities.
Okanagan Wellness Advocacy Group offers wellness, support and advocacy services: promoting social jstice, cultural competency, and trauma-informed care through community-focused support and system navigation
About the event:
Each year, we bring handmade gift bags filled with baked goods, artisan items, and messages of care to over 100 vulnerable adults across Penticton. Every bag is hand-delivered on Christmas Day — a gesture of warmth, dignity, and belonging for those too often left out of the season’s joy.
This year’s gathering goes beyond the fundraiser. Through art, dialogue, and shared reflection, we’ll explore themes of poverty reduction, mental health, substance use, and kinship care. The event features local speakers, performing artists, and meaningful group prompts designed to inspire connection and community action.
Join us in tending the flame — come for the creativity, compassion, and collective care that make this season a light we truly share.
100% of the proceeds go towards the holiday drive & supporting probono wellness services.
