The Ottawa branch of the Canadian Association for Equality is proud to host a public screening of The Red Pill.
The Red Pill is the first big screen documentary about men's issues and Men's Rights Activists, produced by independent filmmaker Cassie Jaye. Jaye, who began the project as a feminist skeptical of the legitimacy of men’s issues, tells how she had her eyes opened to the reality of discrimination against men and boys and the need for society to address men’s as well as women’s issues. The movie is thus a perfect introduction to the launching of a campaign for a local centre to serve the needs of men, boys and their families.
The Ottawa Centre for Men and Families will follow the model of the successful Canadian Centre for Men and Families in Toronto, ON, by offering needed clinical and support services for men and boys in the areas of domestic violence, a legal clinic and fathering programs. We anticipate a positive community response to this important initiative, and the opening of an Ottawa centre in late 2017.
The campaign has already reached half of its minimum goal of $50,000 with a generous donation from Hal Roback, a private supporter. Mr. Roback will be at the launch event to publicly declare his support and receive the thanks of the campaign team.
