We invite our clients to join us in learning and building skills related to mental health.

The mental health of producers has been highlighted over the past year with the extreme challenges of this growing season. But organizations like Do More Agriculture Foundation have advocated that maintaining positive mental health can be difficult for producers in any year given the unique stressors of the job.

Here at AFSC we launched our mental health strategy, “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” in March 2021. This strategy has goals for improving our workplace for our people as well as extending our impact out into the community. In addition to supporting organizations like Do More Agriculture Foundation, we also want to offer support directly with our clients related to mental health.

The Working Mind is a mental health training designed to:

Reduce stigma around mental illness
Promote positive mental health
Give participants the coping skills to manage stress and poor mental health
Support participants to identify poor mental health in themselves and others
Transform the way participants think and talk about mental health and mental illness

This session is virtual and will be offered through Zoom. The Working Mind is a participatory training. While it is recommended that have a camera on during the sessions, we understand this will not be possible in all circumstances, including due to the limited capabilities of rural internet.
