Overview

Toronto Symphony Orchestra Art of Healing Program with Nicole Balm

In partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and in collaboration with Shkaabe Makwa—the Centre for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Wellness—this workshop highlights Art of Healing, a unique initiative that blends traditional knowledge with medical expertise to create a culturally safe space supporting mental well-being. Participants will learn about the collaborative process in which CAMH patients, guided by Cree composer Andrew Balfour and members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, are composing an original piece to be premiered in 2024 at CAMH and at Roy Thomson Hall in 2025. Launched in 2022, Art of Healing is part of the TSO’s broader commitment to community wellness through inclusive, creative engagement.
