Event Information
Description
Inspired by the sold-out success of RAW's last two concerts (From Rage Comes 2013 and Crooked Lines 2016), Undaunted: Into the Open is a jam of both new originals and beloved songs played on booming drums; story vignettes on resistance, resilience, and what lives on through collective struggle; featuring a new collaboration with guest artists from Toronto's all-women kulintang ensemble, Pantayo!
Undaunted: Into the Open will showcase RAW's well-loved brand of ferocity and spirit that charges audiences with energy and harnesses rage for change, hope, and joy.

ABOUT RAW
Raging Asian Womxn Taiko Drummers (RAW) is one of the few all-Asian, all-womxn Taiko drumming groups in the world. Formed in 1998, we carry on the diasporic Taiko tradition that grew out of Asian American and Asian Canadian mobilization in the 60s and 70s. RAW plays large taiko drums as creative resistance for social change, carving space for self-expression, education and community building.
ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION: The Betty Oliphant Theatre is wheelchair accessible with both stairs and a ramp to enter the building. The front row of the theatre will be reserved each night for those with accessibility needs. All videos will be captioned, and lyrics/spoken segments will have transcripts included in the program. The concert will include a 15 minute intermission. There is a single stall all-gender washroom on the main floor in the lobby and more washrooms (men's, women's, and an all-gender family washroom) on the lower floor, which can only be accessed by stairs. Strollers and large mobility aids (such as walkers) can not be left in the aisles due to building fire safety protocol, but the theatre can store these items safely off to the side OR you can choose to use the accessible seating in front row to keep them with you. We invite parents and caretakers with children to come to the Sunday matinee show. While there is no parking lot at the venue, there is street parking available on Jarvis St and surrounding side streets.
CAN'T COME TO THE SHOW, BUT STILL WANT TO HELP?
We are raising money on GoFundMe to cover every cost of the production: from theatre and equipment rentals, to tech crew salaries, to publicity costs. We also make sure that fees for labour are all going to support and employ local artists and artistic technicians.
What You Get for Donating
Lots of goodies! See below for details. We also now have charitable organization status, so you will be sent a donation receipt for your tax purposes. Most of all, you’ll get the satisfaction of supporting the wide and powerful RAW Taiko community of art workers who imagine and labour to build spaces where we can all belong and thrive.
Other Ways You Can Help
Do you have more heart and time than you have money? Please come lend us a hand, literally! We need stage hands, volunteers to spread the word, etc.
Talk to us and let us put you to work!
