Workshop Description
Values-based leadership is an approach that emphasizes authenticity, alignment, and integrity in decision-making and organizational culture. In today’s complex non-profit environments, leaders are often called upon to navigate competing priorities, ethical dilemmas, and challenges of trust and accountability. This full-day, in-person workshop introduces participants to the core principles of values-based leadership and provides practical tools to help leaders integrate values into their daily work.
Through a mix of large group discussions, case scenarios, and small group activities, participants will explore their personal leadership stories, surface and reflect on individual and organizational values, and learn how to apply a structured Values-Based Decision-Making Matrix (VBDM) to real-world issues. The training balances theory and practice, ensuring participants leave with concrete strategies they can apply to strengthen governance, enhance trust, and model leadership rooted in shared values.
By the end of the session, participants will be better equipped to build a values-driven culture, make transparent and ethical decisions, and support alignment between personal commitments and organizational goals.
Objectives
- Understand the principles of values-based leadership and why they matter in non-profit and union contexts.
- Reflect on their own leadership journeys and the role of personal values in shaping their approach.
