VEGA Workshop: Recognizing and Responding to Intimate Partner Violence
Overview
Build the practical confidence and real‑world skills needed to respond safely, compassionately, and effectively when intimate partner violence concerns arise.
This live, virtual workshop helps you move from uncertainty to readiness—so you can:
- Apply trauma‑ and violence‑informed practices in real situations, and
- Strengthen your ability to recognize and respond to signs of or disclosures of intimate partner violence.
Grounded in the pan‑Canadian, evidence‑based guidance of the VEGA (Violence, Evidence, Guidance, Action) Project – which was developed with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada and in collaboration with 22 national health and social service organizations—this workshop brings nationally trusted expertise directly into your practice.
Who This Workshop Is For
This session is designed for anyone seeking to confidently and safely respond to concerns of intimate partner violence. It is particularly valuable for health and social service providers, including:

- Other frontline professionals
What to Expect
This virtual, facilitator‑led workshop blends didactic teaching with guided discussion and case‑based practice, ensuring you can immediately apply what you learn. The training is delivered via Zoom.
To maximize your experience, we strongly recommend completing the free, online VEGA Family Violence Education Resources beforehand.
If you wish to further strengthen your skills in responding to child maltreatment, additional workshop options are available.
Please note: This workshop includes a certificate of completion but is **not** accredited for Mainpro+ or Royal College credits. If you require accredited learning, please see our accredited offerings.
Course Policies
- Attendance: Full attendance is required to receive a certificate. Sessions are not recorded.
- Virtual Etiquette: Please treat the workshop as a professional learning environment. Cameras are expected to remain on to support discussion and engagement.
- Refunds: This course is non‑refundable.
- Cancellations: A minimum of 15 participants is required. Sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled due to low enrollment or circumstances beyond our control. All times listed are Eastern Time (ET).
