Virtual Support Session: Cancer-Related Trauma
Overview
Receiving a cancer diagnosis and everything it encompasses can take its toll. For many different reasons, it can be traumatic. Repeatedly, it can leave one feeling the effects of post-traumatic stress.
Join us for this session as we explore and talk about cancer-related trauma and distress.
This session will focus on learning about cancer-related PTS (post-traumatic stress) including how to identify common symptoms. We will learn helpful strategies and techniques to help reduce trauma impacts and improve quality of life.

Your Facilitator: Emma Rinaldo
Emma Rinaldo (BA, BEd, MSW, RSW) is a registered clinical social worker and psychotherapist in private practice and at Women’s College Hospital (WCH) in Toronto. For the past eight years she has worked in clinical settings including the Neuro-Oncology program and Family Therapy Training Program at The Hospital for Sick Children and is currently at the Peter Gilgan Centre for Women’s Cancers at WCH.
She offers support to individuals and their families who are managing acute or chronic health conditions and facing a variety of mental health challenges. Emma has certifications and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy.
Emma was also an Elementary school teacher for six years prior to obtaining her Master's in Social Work, and has also facilitated virtual support group sessions in the past for Rethink.
