Event description

Join Fair Trade Manitoba, Divine Chocolate, and the Canadian Fair Trade Network for a one-hour webinar on the cocoa industry!

It’s Halloween soon, and everyone will be buying lots of treats! But do you know where your chocolate was made, and who made it? This webinar is meant to give a positive but realistic background on the cocoa industry, and to be a platform through which to share ideas and insights on possible alternatives to the dark side of Halloween. Some of the topics that will be touched upon include child labour, the cocoa harvest, chocolate brands, Divine chocolate’s co-operative in Ghana, Fair Trade programs in Canada, and Fair Trade Halloween campaign ideas. The webinar will not exceed one hour.

Some webinar highlights:
- Participate with your class to be entered into a random prize draw to win free Fair Trade Divine Chocolate for the entire class!
- Talk to other students and teachers from across Canada about their Fair Trade events, ideas and activities!
- Get your students to learn more about the cocoa industry and the chocolate they buy for them to become Fair Trade champions during Halloween!

About the organizations:
- Fair Trade Manitoba: A project of the Manitoba Council on International Cooperation to heighten awareness of fair trade in Manitoba.
- Divine Chocolate is co-owned by the 85,000 farmer members of Kuapa Kokoo, the cooperative in Ghana that supplies the cocoa for each bar of Divine.
- Canadian Fair Trade Network aims to inspire and strengthen a network of fair trade leaders and advocates.
