What is White Supremacy Culture and How do We Resist It?
Overview
What is White Supremacy Culture and How do We Resist It? Julianna Morin (they/she), MSW/RSW is a non-status member of the Bonnechere Algonquin First Nation, with both Algonquin and French settler-colonizer ancestry. Julianna uses their experiences as a mental healthcare provider, community anti-violence advocate, and healing human to inspire individuals to achieve social and environmental justice.
The intent of this session is to introduce those unfamiliar with Dr. Tema Okun's work to the identified characteristics of, and proposed antidotes to, white supremacy culture. Participants will be supported to more critically examine the ways in which harmful biases impact their own experience and how they can return to decolonial values and practices in their everyday life.
