True Lies Workshop

Ever wondered how novelists and short story writers “make up” characters and events that feel true to life? Award-winning author and Humber College professor Alissa York leads a short workshop on mining the “facts” of our lives for the narrative gold of fiction.

The Devil in the Details

Nonfiction memoir is storytelling. Like novels and short stories, autobiographies have characters and settings and transport the reader to unfamiliar times and places. This workshop, led by author and journalist Andrew Borkowski, introduces writers to the art of descriptive writing, conveying setting, character, and scenes using the same tools as the writer of fiction.
