Overview
Riparian 101 training teaches about the Riparian Intactness and the Riparian Web Portal, as well as tools and resources for using the data.
The Riparian Web Portal (www.riparian.info) is an award-winning website, launched in 2021 by Alberta’s watershed community and led by the NSWA. This dynamic online space empowers Albertans to enhance riparian health through interactive access to comprehensive data and resources.
This Riparian 101 session will cover topics such as:
- Intro to the Riparian Intactness Project
- Background on why riparian areas are important
- An overview of the methods used to measure riparian intactness, pressure assessment and action prioritization
- About the Riparian Data/ Riparian Web Portal
- Tools and Resources for using the data to apply this knowledge
This is training is open to the public but is also a pre-requisite for Riparian 102 training, which is open for any organization involved with restoring and conserving riparian areas, including municipalities, agricultural groups and eNGOs. The Riparian 102 session is being hosted January 13 from 1:00 - 3:00PM and has a seperate registration link.
