Wild Foraged Foods with Growing Chefs! (Ages 8+)
Overview
Come learn about Wild Foraged Foods with Growing Chefs! Ontario - no hiking boots required! This indoor, hands-on workshop introduces children to the world of wild edible plants in a fun and engaging way. Using real-life plant samples we’ve foraged ahead of time, kids will explore how to safely and sustainably forage and identify edible plants using their senses. Participants will get up close with wild plants, learn to create botanical drawings and leaf rubbings, and enjoy a delicious chef-made snack featuring foraged ingredients. Each child will go home with recipes and the knowledge to begin spotting edible plants. The Forest City is full of food just waiting to be foraged - if you know where to look! We’ll share handy tips on when and where to start exploring. An accompanying adult is highly recommended.
