Woodturning: Exquisite Boxes with Carl Durance

This workshop will focus on special techniques to make exquisite decorative lidded boxes. Topics will include safety, wood selection, grain orientation, tool selection, sharpening, design considerations, fitting lids, embellishments including inserts and finials, turning techniques, and finishing. Each participant will have the opportunity to turn two unique exquisite boxes (box with lid insert, hidden‐sleeved box). An overview of other decorative boxes will ignite your enthusiasm to pursue making more exquisite boxes. Exquisite boxes make great gifts for family and friends!

This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.

Suitable for intermediate woodturners. Basic woodturning skills are required, prior box turning is recommended.

Workshop Cost: $200. Materials fee of $30.00 payable to instructor at start of class.
