Woodturning: Introduction to Pen Turning with Carl Durance

Explore the exciting art of pen turning through this hands‐on workshop, from simple to more advanced techniques. Experiment with wood glue‐ups and acrylics. Incorporate simple convenient jigs for cutting and gluing pen blanks. Use a lathe as a drill press and pen press. Use dry and wet sanding. Topics will include safety, operation of a lathe, tool selection and usage, mounting options, and finishing. Participants will have the opportunity to make a Celtic knot blank, and, turn a Slimline pen with matching keychain, a Celtic knot Sierra pen, and an acrylic Maple Leaf pen.
This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.
Beginners welcome!
Workshop Cost: $200. Materials fee of $45 payable to instructor at start of class.
