Event description

Description

This workshop will cover basic information regarding installing and exhibiting media based artworks. When it comes to installing audio, video and interactive digital artworks there often requires technical know how and troubleshooting as unanticipated issues may arise during the initial set up as well as throughout the run of the exhibition or event. This workshop will cover best practices when it comes to displaying video and audio based works, as well as things to consider when planning and exhibiting a wide range of digital and media artwork.

Instructor Bio: Adrienne Crossman is an artist, educator and curator based in Hamilton, Ontario. They hold an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Windsor (2018), and a BFA in Integrated Media with a Minor in Digital and Media Studies from OCAD University (2012). Their practice investigates the liminality between the digital and the physical while highlighting queer sensibilities in the everyday. Crossman is interested in how the terms trans* and non-binary apply to media as well as gender, and they create queer interventions through the manipulation of digital media and popular culture. Adrienne has completed residencies in Syracuse (NY), Montréal (QC), and Artscape Gibraltar Point on the Toronto Islands (ON), and has exhibited at: Xpace Cultural Centre (Toronto, Ontario), Idea Exchange (Cambridge, Ontario), 8eleven (Toronto, Ontario), Studio L'Eloi (Montreal, Quebec), Moscow Biennale for Young Art (Moscow, Russia), the Art Gallery of Windsor (Windsor, ON) and The Wrong New Digital Art Biennale (thewrong.org).
