Phonetic Spit

Phonetic Spit is dedicated to creating brave spaces to help young people find, develop, & publicly present their voices.

Since 2011, Phonetic Spit has been transforming communities through literary arts, spoken, word, hip hop, and various arts programming. We create programming that aims to build hope and resilience in the lives of young people and encourage students and instructors to honor one another with respect, accountability, honesty, expression, vulnerability, and courage. In so doing we establish a brave space where each individual is valued and acknowledged. Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of social, emotional, cultural, and academic literacy and utilizes the arts as an avenue for individual and communal, healing, growth, and self awareness.
