At this year’s interactive workshop, our speakers will provide insight on the issues and opportunities surrounding the liquor policy reform recommendations, including the current status on the implementation of those reforms. This insightful session will provide legal, political and business perspectives on the policy changes that will have the most impact on wineries.

Mark Hicken, J.D - Vintage Law Group
Lawyer
Mark Hicken is a Vancouver lawyer providing a full range of legal services to the wine industry through his own law practice, Vintage Law Group, located in Vancouver. Mark has a B.A. from UBC and a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. He is a member of the Law Society of BC, the Canadian Bar Association, the International Association of Wine Lawyers and the American Society for Enology & Viticulture. He has also completed the Wine Executive Program at the University of California, Davis. Mark is frequently quoted in the media on legal issues facing the wine industry. He is also a frequent speaker on legal topics at wine industry conferences.
Bert Hick, Rising Tide Consultants

Bert Hick is President and founder of Rising Tide Consultants Ltd. He served with the BC Government in key positions including: Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat, Executive Director of the Cabinet Secretariat, Secretary to Cabinet under Premier William Bennnett and General Manager of the BC Liquor Control and Licensing Branch.
