Description

PHO Grand Rounds:

Using indicators to guide health equity work in Public Health

Reducing health inequities is fundamental to public health work in Ontario. In this Locally Driven Collaborative Project, we conducted a scoping literature review that led to the development of indicators organized according to the 2011 NCCDH key roles for public health action to reduce health inequities.

Fifteen indicators in 5 categories were pilot tested in four Ontario public health agencies. These indicators have now been provided to the public health field in a user guide that facilitates data collection to assess, monitor and support health equity activities at the local level.

The user guide can be found here.

We will provide an overview of the project and discuss its implementation.
